After a wonderful inaugural event late last year, we're excited to welcome back Coalfire Country to The Phyllis Maud!

Hosted by award winning local country musician Rebecca Richards and featuring members of her band, Coalfire Country is a transatlantic experience, delving deep into the cultures that inspired the genre that we all know and love whilst getting inside knowledge into local songwriter's writing process in an intimate and communal environment.

Guest singer songwriters for 28th February are:

Sophie Rose - Born and raised in the South West of England, Sophie's vocals and honest songwriting weave stories of resilience, healing and strength. With roots in country and folk and a background in spoken word poetry, her music truly touches the soul. From topping the iTunes UK Country chart with her debut single "Healing the Burn", to performing her debut EP "To the Core" at the o2 Academy for mental health awareness, Sophie embodies kindness, community and the power of music to bring people together.

Ryan Keyes - is a singer songwriter from Newport and has an undeniable talent for storytelling. His songwriting introduces the listener to a cast of colourful characters and explores themes including masculinity, vulnerability and fear, creating a powerful and emotive experience for the audience.

Coalfire Country draws inspiration from the traditional country formats of 'Songs In The Round' and the classic concept of the pickup band to create an authentic, country experience with a diverse range of artists each showcasing their own interpretation of country music.
